It's been a long time since.............

LEST WE FORGET……………….

When we return to flags unfurled,
to scarlet poppies, happy girls,
to raise a glass to victories
achieved through vile atrocities
of burning homes and mothers’ screams,
of fathers never knowing dreams
of children who, as yet unborn
will find no peace within the storm,
will not forget what war has done,
scarring the souls of everyone.
Let’s not forget then as we live
that peace is something we could give
to all ourselves in this blue world
where spilling blood has always ruled.

Sorry it's been so long.

A very hard year by normal standards.
